NAF launches operation against vandals in South-South
The Chief of Air Staff, (CAS) Vice Admiral Sadique Abubakar has said the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will soon launch an operation in the South-South part of the country to protect its Oil and Gas infrastructure including the people of the region against activities of vandals.
Abubakar stated this yesterday in Abuja while addressing Officers and Airmen shortly after the force quarterly route march at the Mogadishu cantonment Abuja.
He said the main focus of NAF at the moment is to protect the territorial integrity of Nigeria in the South south and to ensure that oil and gas infrastructure are not destroyed by any group or group of individuals, adding that challenges in the northeast has been substantially addressed.
The Air Chief said Officers and Airmen must be in the best of forms in terms of health and physical wellbeing to be able to address these challenges the Nigeria state is currently facing.
He said “The challenges of today require a very sound mind in a sound body and that is why the quarterly route march exercise is an exercise we take very seriously.
“We want to assure Nigerians that by this exercise and even at the highest level, we are capable, willing and ready to face the challenges facing the Nigerian states. If we can do this at this level, then you can imagine what our officers and airmen are doing in the battle front.
“Be ready that at any time you are called to serve in the Defence of the Nigerian state, you will be willing to do so out there and do it with every sense of patriotism. The challenges in the northeast has been substantially addressed, so we are not too worried now with the north east.
“Our main focus will now be to protect the territorial integrity of Nigeria in the South south and to ensure that oil and gas infrastructure is not destroyed by any group or group of individuals. Very soon we will launch an exercise in the South South also and the aim of the exercise is to protect our people and to protect the infrastructure of Nigeria”
In another development, the Air Officer Commanding Training, NAF Kaduna, Air Vice Marshal Nurudeen Balogun said the CAS has directed that there be Aerial patrol of Kaduna-Abuja highway and the general area of Niger both adding that all operations holding in the other areas of this country should ensure that Federal Capital Territory(FCT) is also covered.
